North County-Carmel football

Saturday's game
North County (1-2) at  Carmel (1-2), 2 p.m.
For the first time in a decade, the Padres have dropped three straight games on campus. Just twice in the last eight years have they dropped more than two games in a season.
An ironic twist to Carmel's season has seen them give up more points in each of its first three games while scoring less each game.
The Condors are getting closer to a home game as renovations to their stadium and field are close to completion. In the meantime they will embark on their 16th straight road game.
After giving up 82 points in its first two games, North County held Marina to 15 last week. Joseph Bertao is coming off a three touchdown effort.
It might be noted that Carmel has losses to two teams that are a combined 6-0. Yet, the offense has not looked sharp. Right now it can not just simply outscore teams like in the past.
Establishing a ground game behind Luke Melcher will take some of the pressure off the sophomore quarterback.
With road games coming up against Soledad and Scotts Valley, this is as important of a non-league game as there is for Carmel. And it's at home.
