Monterey-Sobrato football

Friday's game
Monterey (0-2) at Sobrato, Morgan Hill (0-2), 7:30 p.m.
It will be a homecoming of sorts for Toreadores coach Dan Brown, who spent a couple of seasons as the coach at Sobrato, even taking them to the playoffs.
The Bulldogs have taken their lumps in their first two games, having fallen 38-0 to Christopher and 42-6 to Sacred Heart Prep. Dating back to last fall, Sobrato has dropped eight straight games.
Monterey is looking to put an end to a 13 game road losing skid that dates back to 2014, having been outscored 80-22 in its first two games this fall.
What ever Brown is doing over the first 12 minutes of the game with his players, bottle it. Monterey has been tied at seven in both of its first two games, but outscored 66-6 the rest of the way.
A bright spot for the Toreadores has been the effort of sophomore tailback Azjani McGill, who has a touchdown run and a 70-yard touchdown catch.
Defensively, Monterey is simply wearing down, having spent a lot of time on the field in its first two games, allowing nearly 600 yards rushing this year.
