Monterey football

The one similarity between the Toreadores first two games and their last two is they started fast. The one significant difference is how Monterey finished.
Outscored 56-0 in their first two games after scoring in the opening minutes of two humbling losses, the Toreadores haven't taken their foot off the peddle in their last two games.
The result has seen Monterey light up the scoreboard with 89 points in its last two games, including 55 Friday in opening Pacific Division play with a lopsided win.
No one questioned the Toreadores athleticism. Growing into their uniforms, though, means patience for a squad that has eight sophomores learning the fly.
There were moments when head coach Dan Brown would change a play and a look of bewilderment crossed their faces.
Concepts take time to grasp. The learning curve is catching up to the athleticism. Adjustments are being made now without confusion or hesitation.
Sophomore Azjani McGill might be the most exciting player in the Pacific with his speed out of the backfield, having scored three touchdowns of 70 yards or longer this year.
Darius Garrard is another sophomore punching his ticket into the end zone while quarterback Evans Charles is forcing teams to respect his arm and legs.
After dropping 14 straight games away from campus, the Toreadores have won their last two. A trip to Alisal awaits in what might be the teams biggest game since Brown's arrival three years ago.
