Milpitas-Salinas football

Friday's game
Milpitas (3-0) at Salinas (1-1), 7:30 p.m.
The Trojans have come within a game of playing for a state title the last two years, falling last fall to eventual state champion Pleasant Valley in the Northern California bowl game.
Over the last five years, Milpitas has averaged more than 10 wins a season, having played for three Central Coast Section titles.
While the Trojans are off to a 3-0 start this year, one was a forfeit win. The other two lopsided wins are against teams that are a combined 1-4.
Salinas has looked good for seven quarters this fall. It's the one quarter last week against Terra Nova -- in which it spotted them 21 points in the first quarter -- that sticks out as an eye sore.
Erase that stretch of 12 minutes and the Cowboys have outscored two opponents 59-13.
Last year Salinas failed to score a touchdown for the first time in 31 games against Milpitas. Yet, it might have been its best defensive effort of the year in a 9-3 loss.
Quarterback TyRee Bracy has made his completions count this season for Milpitas, as five of his 10 connections have gone for touchdowns.
Twin brother Tariq Bracy is averaging 13.2 yards each time he takes a handful, having accounted for five touchdowns -- two on pick six's on defense.
Salinas' defense has recorded nine sacks in two games with Nathan Martorella producing three. It's also forced four turnovers with Mason Hunter returning an interception for a touchdown.

Salinas will be underdog in this one and will have to play much better than they did last week to be in this one.
