Gonzales-Santa Cruz football

Friday's game
Gonzales (0-5) at Santa Cruz (0-4), 7:30 p.m.
One quarter stands out in the Spartans early season struggles, as they have been outscored 50-0 in the third quarter.
Gonzales hasn't learned how to play with a lead yet, having let two second half leads evaporate. That is what happens when a program has dropped 16 of its last 17 games dating back to 2015.
Quarterback Raul Morales has thrown for 680 yards and five touchdowns. And while he has just two picks in 105 attempts, his completion percentage needs to improve.
Last week Morales threw for two touchdowns and darted 85 yards for one. Payton Flores accounted for three touchdowns, including a 31-yard touchdown run.
The Cardinals have produced just 42 points all season, with one of their setbacks being a 14-12 loss to 4-1 Watsonville.
Abram Soriano has thrown for 450 yards and four touchdowns in the teams last three games. Santa Cruz is struggling, though, to the run the ball, averaging just. 3.2 yards a carry.
Gonzales has allowed 782 yards on the ground this year. The Cardinals defense has created just three turnovers all season.
