 Are we looking at another undefeated regular season run for the Cougars?
 At 8-0 and owners of 37 straight regular season wins, the reigning two-time Mission Trail Athletic League champions begin defense of their title tonight, hosting Carmel.
 Over the last three years, Santa Catalina has gone 48-3 in the MTAL -- with all three losses coming from Carmel.
 The Cougars have won the four meetings between the two rivals, sweeping them last Saturday at the Notre Dame Tournament.
 Santa Catalina has an arsenal of talent at the net, anchored by Maria Santos and Saige Madden, while setter McKinley Fox and libero Olivia Satow are four year starters.
 The Cougars non-league season included a sweep over defending CCS Division IV champion Monte Vista and a four-set win over Gabilan Division power Salinas.
 One of two teams to take a set from the Cougars in league play last year, the Padres attack starts with Soana Laulotu at the net and senior libero Madi Lombardi.
 Carmel is 50-6 in league play over the last four years. One of its non-league losses this season was a five-set battle against defending Gabilan champion San Benito.
