Alvarez-San Benito football

Friday's game
Alvarez (2-1) at San Benito (2-1), 7:30 p.m.
In the middle of its toughest stretch in its schedule, Alvarez is looking to snap a three-game losing streak to the Balers, including last year's 37-20 setback.
The Eagles used the bye week to gear up for the most physical team they'll likely face this year. At the same time, they've had an extra week to stew over a 49-0 loss to Burlingame.
Quarterback Matt Martinez should be back for Alvarez, has missed most of the Burlingame game with an undisclosed injury.
The senior threw for a single-game school record 249 yards in a Week 2 win over Alisal. He's also tossed five touchdown passes and has rushed for 215 yards.
The Balers are also looking to bounce back, having been blanked 35-0 last week by Wilcox. Their wins have been by seven points over Sacred Heart Prep and one point over Los Gatos.
San Benito is going to grind and be physical on offense with its running game, as it is averaging just eight passes a game.
While the Balers have yet to allow a point in the first quarter this year, they have been outscored 28-7 in the fourth quarter.
