Alisal football

It could have been a devastating blow for the Trojans. One that a program trying to change its culture doesn't rebound from.
For a week, Alisal has had to rationalize how it was unable to hold on to a 17-point lead, succumbing in the final seconds to Soledad in a gut wrenching loss.
So, you can only imagine what must have been going through the Trojans minds Friday night when North Salinas tied the game with 2:05 left.
 Not another heartbreaking ending.
 Not with this group.
Instead, the Trojans marched down field like they had been in this position before, which of course they had. This time execution was to perfection.
When Andrew Marquez weaved through the defense for a 26 yard run to the one, the assumption was he would call his own number. He earned it.
Plus, the quarterback already had three rushing touchdowns. You know North Salinas knew that.
A sign of a team maturing is confidence in each other. Marquez gave the ball to Anthony Vasquez, who punched it in from a yard out with 30 seconds left.
No, it wasn't a miracle finish. But it was magical.
It's the kind of win that can take a program in another direction. Now the players realize the system works. The Trojans will be a scary team in the Pacific Division.
