Watsonville-Pacific Grove football

Friday's game
Watsonville (0-0) at Pacific Grove (0-0), 7:30 p.m.
After four straight playoff appearances and three straight seasons of 10 or more wins, the Breakers are coming off a 5-5 season.
One of those wins was a come-from-behind 46-42 win over Watsonville -- who finished 4-6 overall -- in last year's season opener.
Replacing over 80 percent of its offense starts with quarterback Hunter Hanes, who started one game last year as a sophomore for Pacific Grove.
Much like Pacific Grove, the Wildcatz closed last year with two straight losses to fall out of playoff contention, failing to score a touchdown in their final two games.
Expect a heavy dose of running from Watsonville, who chalked up over 2,000 rushing yards, but just 81 yards threw the air, averaging four passes a game.
Matthew Barceló rushed for nearly 600 yards and a team leading eight touchdowns as a sophomore last year for the Wildcatz, with 118 yards and four touchdowns coming against Watsonville.
Johnny Bravo added 401 yards and five touchdowns for the Wildcatz, while the defense recorded three touchdowns, with James Sandoval intercepting four passes as a sophomore.
