Saturday morning thoughts

Statement: Seaside went down to Soledad and beat the defending CCS DIV champions 31-12.
Impression: Erupting for 34 first half points, Alvarez open the season with a 40-0 win over North County.
Shootout: Three touchdowns from Anthony Aguilar wasn't enough in North Salinas' 40-26 loss to Piedmont Hills.
Growing pains: It takes time to rebuild a program as Gonzales -- who held a brief 7-0 lead -- fell by 47 points to Fremont of Oakland.
Big second half: Producing four straight second half touchdowns, Carmel broke up a 20-20 halftime tie with a 46-20 win over Willow Glen.
Numbers: DeMarcus Hawkins accounted for four touchdowns for Seaside while Matt Martinez had three for Alvarez, as did Kai Lee for Carmel and Aguilar for North Salinas.
