Carmel football

Whether it was by design or just frustration, Carmel coach Golden Anderson pulled his quarterback  two plays into the game.
Perhaps some words of encouragement were needed.
Because on the ensuing series, sophomore Kai Lee was back behind center and quickly showed why Anderson may have landed another jewel at quarterback.
Once Lee shook off the nerves of playing in his first game, he finished with more touchdown passes than incompletions, tossing three scoring strikes in Carmel's 46-26 win over Willow Glen.
This isn't the first time Anderson has brought up a sophomore and thrusted him into the spotlight of playing quarterback.
The first time he did it, the Padres went 12-0 and won the programs first CCS title. The previous two signal callers both produced over 5,000 passing yards, and each had a 1,000 yard rushing season.
Lee is built a little different, tall and lean. When Anderson talks about protecting the quarterback, he may hold off on the designed runs.
Clearly, though, this was a confidence builder for Lee, who didn't commit a turnover. He moved the chains. You're going to win a lot of games when your offense runs 70 plays.
