Yeah, it's only a sportsmanship match.
Or is it?
A dinner is at stake among the coaches.
You see, Carmel volleyball coach Israel Ricardez and first year Salinas coach Chole Goldman are engaged.
So bragging rights are on the line tonight at Salinas when the two volleyball powers meet in a match that won't count in the standings.
Goldman, who was an assistant coach for Ricardez's the last four years, is 2-0 lifetime against her fiancée, having defeated him twice when she was the head coach at Anzar.
A former Herald Volleyball Player of the Year at Salinas, Goldman spent four seasons as the libero for the University of Tennessee before becoming a coach.
As for the match, Salinas is deep and powerful at the net with the return of all-county hitter Taylor Rose and development of Savanna Maker.
Carmel libero Madi Lombardi will be busy in the back row while Soana Laulotu will look to be a disruptive force in the middle of the net.
