Preseason football rankings

1. Salinas: A lot of talent is back on both sides of the football.
2. Palma: Has some big holes to fill in the backfield and in the trenches.
3. San Benito: A program that never has trouble filling roles with its depth.
4. Aptos: Will learn that the Gabilan Division isn't the SCCAL.
5. Seaside: Whether it belongs in the Gabilan or not, it will be competitive.
6. Soledad: Reigning CCS DIV champions are still looking for their first league title outright.
7. Carmel: Could an MTAL team be moved to the Gabilan when leagues are configured?
8. Monte Vista: Has proved it can compete in the Gabilan with small numbers.
9. Scotts Valley: Newest addition to the MTAL will be one of the favorites.
10. Alvarez: Has welcomed the challenge of remaining in the Gabilan Division.
On the bubble: North Salinas, Gilroy, King City, Monterey.

Palma has a soph RB that will make an impact this coming season. He's a bigger and faster version of Martinez. He was injured towards end of season otherwise he would have been yup as a frosh for playoffs. Palma frosh Jonathan Bering another soph next season played alot in defensive back during the playoffs as a frosh. Palma will have some outstanding sophs at skill positions and should be pretty good at QB and on defense. I agree Salinas should be favorite, but either Palma will take some bruises next season or surprise. Future looks bright in a couple years for Palma as their frosh team has some athletes as well.
