Mikayla Revera

The experience of having taken part in the previous state track and field championships can't hurt the Santa Catalina sprinter.
But will the five week layoff earlier this year because of a hamstring injury keep Revera from living up to her own expectations?
Owner of a career best 54.86 in the 400 meters, achieved at last year's state prelims, Revera has yet to dip under 56 seconds.
Granted, the goal is to peak at state. But it is difficult to make up for that lost time, especially in the 400.
Revera will go into Friday's prelims ranked 16th at 56.39. No question, she's a better 400 runner in hot weather, and it will be warm at Buchanan High in Clovis.
Yet, for Revera to reach the finals, she will likely have to run at least a second faster, based solely on marks attained at last week's section finals.
Keep in mind Revera did run 56.00 four weeks ago -- unchallenged. Assuming she's healthy, she is due for a season best.
