Saratoga-Carmel softball

Central Coast Section Division II Playoffs
Saturday's game
No. 7 Saratoga (18-5) vs. No. 2 Carmel (22-6) at the Salinas Sports Complex, 2:15 p.m.
For the seventh time in their last eight games, the Mission Trail Athletic League champion Padres needed just five innings to close out a team.
During this run, Carmel has outscored the opposition 103-7, opening the postseason with a 16-2 pasting of The Kings Academy.
Saratoga shared the El Camino Division title with Milpitas at 11-1, holding off Pacific Grove 4-3 in its playoff opener.
Pacific Grove was the only team in the MTAL that Carmel was unable to 10-run.
The Falcons are a team that finds the gap, with a quarter of their 200 plus hits going for doubles this spring.
Ashyln Davis has been a run producing machine for Carmel with 39 runs batted in over 28 games. Zoe Patterson is hitting .541 while Kristin Cardinalli is at .508.
The Padres pitching staff has been filthy as both Jessica Pavloff and Jaclyn Hyles have earned run averages under 1.00. Hyles has an 0.33 ERA with 102 strikeouts in just 64 innings of work
