Tuesday's game
No. 15 San Mateo (15-7) vs. No. 2 Salinas (21-6) at the Salinas Sports Complex, 4 p.m.
The Cowboys are riding into the postseason as one of the hottest teams in the section, having rattled off 11 straight wins en route to a Pacific Division title.
Part of Salinas' resurgence this spring starts with freshman Kayla Stone, who has ripped a team high six home runs.
During the Cowboys 11-game winning streak, they've outscored the opposition 147-15. Sophomore Nevaeh Pinon has carried a big bat in the lineup.
San Mateo shared the Peninsula Ocean Division title with South San Francisco at 11-1. Outside its division, it was just 4-6.
The Bearcats are not a power hitting team, having hit just one homer all year. They are hitting .384 as a team, with sophomore Monet Scheller hitting .542 with 25 runs batted in.
