CSUMB softball

Julia Garcia was named to the NFCA and Conference Commissioner’s Association/NCAA Division II All-West Region first teams for the Otters.
The California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Year and 2017 Newcomer of the Year, Garcia won the conference’s triple crown with 15 homers and 62 runs batted in while hitting .451.
The slugging third baseman also set a new CSUMB single-season record for hits (82) and slugging percentage (.805). Her 15 homers is the second highest single-season total in Otter history.
Teammate Hayley Fein was named to the second team in both categories after winning 29 games for the Otters. The CCAA Freshman of the Year had nine shutouts and 145 strikeouts.
Madison Casto was named to the Conference Commissioner’s Association/NCAA Division II second team while Lusi Stanley was an NFCA second team selection.
Casto completed her collegiate career, hitting .383 with six home runs and 48 runs batted in. She’s No. 2 all-time on the Otters list in career batting average (.388) and hits (248), and No. 3 in runs batted in (151) and fielding percentage (.994).
Stanley hit .353 with six homers and 41 runs batted in for the Otters.
