Notre Dame-Sobrato softball

Central Coast Section Division II Playoffs
Saturday's game
No. 9 Sobrato (17-11) vs. No. 1 Notre Dame (22-6) at the Salinas Sports Complex, 4 p.m.
So much for the concern that the Spirits were limping into the postseason after closing the regular season with two straight losses, being outscored 15-2.
Notre Dame is the top seed for a reason, needing just five innings to end Mercy-Burlingame's season with an 11-1 win.
Now comes Sobrato, who finished in a tie for fifth in the Mount Hamilton Division at 7-7, but was 10-4 outside league play.
The Bulldogs got hot at the right time, having won four of their last five games behind Lexi Parish, who hit .500 this year with 20 of her 53 hits going for extra bases.
Parish also posted a 7-1 record with a 2.20 earned run average for Sobrato, tossing two innings in the teams win over San Lorenzo Valley in Wednesday's playoff opener.
The Spirits treated their postseason opener like batting practice with Kaeli Bush ripping a home run and Aly Gomonet producing three hits and three runs batted in.
If experience counts, Notre Dame has a ton of it as four players have played in 10 playoff games and three section title games.
