Monterey baseball

Sitting two games out of a playoff spot with four to play, the Toreadores are clinging to life-support in their bid to keep a postseason streak of 26 straight years alive.
Monterey, who visits Gilroy today, staged off elimination last week by bouncing Gabilan Division leader San Benito, easily its biggest win of the season.
It will close the year with games against Gilroy, Palma, Salinas and Monte Vista Christian.
The Toreadores went a combined 3-5 against those opponents, sweeping Gilroy and splitting with Monte Vista.
Even if Monterey wins all four games, it would still need help as Monte Vista sits two games ahead of them. The two teams close the season against each other.
The Toreadores are 3-2 in their last five Gabilan Division games, falling to Christopher by a single run.
Jack Bailey continues to carry the team on the mound for Monterey while Po’okela Moana, Michael Carnazzo and freshman Michael Mugan have all had timely hits.
