MPC-Hartnell softball

 How fitting.
Two rivals playing for a conference title with two games left in the season. Someone will have no worse than a share of it after Thursday.
While both appear a lock to make the postseason, the Coast Conference South Division title is on the line this afternoon when the Panthers host MPC.
Hartnell needed extra innings in the teams first battle to pull out a 6-5 win.
Riding a seven-game wining streak behind the arms of  Danielle Caoili and Kaitlyn Doyle, Hartnell has rattled off seven straight wins and is 9-1 in its last 10 games.
The Lobos are also 9-1 in their last 10 games behind hurler Sally Bowles and Serena Castaneda, who has all seven home runs for the team.
The Panthers have slugged 25 home runs this year, nine from Caoili and six from Harllee Noda, who is also hitting .415.
Hartnell also manufactured run on the bases with Angelina Ruiz and Kaitlyn Doyle combining for 55 steals.
Castaneda, a freshman from North Salinas, has had a monster year for MPC, leading the team in runs batted in (41) and homers (7), while hitting .475. Lauren Salvati is hitting a team high .485.
