Owners of 18 straight wins, the nationally ranked Otters return to the site where they just captured the Tournament of Champion title, facing Stanislaus State today.
Behind tournament Most Valuable Player Julia Garcia, the Otters went 6-0 in the tourney, outscoring opponents 40-10.
Garcia has ripped eight homers this year, driving in 37 runs in the teams (29-4) first 33 games, while hitting .429.
As a team CSUMB is hitting .371 with former Salinas High and MPC outfielder Sam Luna spraying the ball around at a .343 clip with two homers and a team high six stolen bases.
The reason the Otters have surpassed last year's entire win total comes down to pitching. Freshman  Hayley Fein is closing in on 20 wins at 17-3 with a 1.29 earned run average.
It doesn't hurt that Rosalia Keirns has sparkled when called upon in the circle, as she is 8-0 with a 1.93 ERA, pitching a gem in the tournament title game.
Two of the teams ranked ahead of the No. 15 Otters in the NCAA Division II polls are conference rivals Chico State and Humboldt State.
Ironically, the Otters final eight games of the conference season come against the two powers.
