Carmel softball

If I'm head coach Jim Pingree, I don't want a week off for spring break.
Six games into the Mission Trail Athletic League season and the Padres still haven't played a full seven inning game.
Granted, it would have against Pacific Grove if rain didn't end it in the sixth inning. Yet, the previous five games have gone five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.
The reigning MTAL champion Padres have put on a hitting clinic in league play, having outscored six opponents 87-2.
The pitching has been filthy as sophomore Jessica Pavloff and freshman Jaclyn Hyles have taken turns in the circle, combining for five league shutouts and eight on the season.
At the plate the Padres are packing a punch with 35 extra base hits, including 14 triples.
Ashlyn Davis, Jocelyne Bruno and Anna Buzan all have seven extra base hits, with Davis having driven in 22 runs and Buzan having compiled nine multiple hit games.
At some point, you have to start looking at this team as more than just a playoff team. Carmel has the tools to chase the programs first ever CCS divisional title.
