Bill Kearney track invitational

A talented field, which includes the nations No. 8 ranked girls pole vaulter, will highlight Saturday's annual Salinas High Bill Kearney Invitational at Hartnell College
 Chasing the girls pole vault meet record will be Santa Catalina sophomore Laurel Wong, who broke the Monterey County record last week with a mark of 13-feet-2.
 Wong, a state meet participant last year, is the top ranked vaulter in the Central Coast Section and No. 2 in the state. Wong will also go into the meet as the top seed in the long jump (16-11 1/2).
Tyshell Johnson, who is ranked No. 3 in the section in the shot, will look to improve on her county leading mark of 36-11 1/2 for Alvarez.
 Three sprinters will chase each other in the 100, highlighted by Monterey's Trinity Mobley (12.90). Brooke Oleson of Salinas (13.10) and Kate Riordan of Notre Dame (13.16) are a stride behind.
 Palma's Isaiah Blanco will go into the meet the favorite in the 200 (22.94) and 400 (50.21). His mark in the 400 has the senior ranked fourth in the CCS.
 Soledad's Daniel Contawe (50-9) and Alisal's Carlos Mendoza (49-11) are ranked No. 2 and No. 3 respectively in the CCS in the shot put. Contawe has also uncorked the discus 142-feet.
