North Salinas won its fifth straight Gabilan Division girls basketball title on Thursday.
No surprise there.
Neither was Pacific Grove wrapping up no worse than a share of its fourth straight boys Mission Trail Athletic League title after Thursday's win over Soledad
Tonight Alisal and Palma will take aim at defending their league boys basketball titles. Wins tonight ensure no worse than another title for both teams.
What three of these programs have in common besides being defending champions, is they're chasing undefeated league seasons.
The Chieftains come into tonight's battle with Christopher having won 36 straight Gabilan Division games while Alisal has rattled off 21 straight Pacific Division wins.
North Salinas has won 20 straight league games. During its five-year run of supremacy in league, it is 55-3 in the Gabilan Division.
