Underdogs is not a role North Salinas is accustomed to.
But that's the position it'll be in today when it faces No. 4 Silver Creek in the Central Coast Section Division I quarterfinals at Piedmont Hills.
Despite three straight trips to the CCS Division I finals and a 22-3 record this season, the reigning five-time Gabilan Division champions were seeded No. 5.
Of course, seeds mean little once you get to the quarterfinals, as all games are held at mutual sites.
Still, North Salinas might be playing with a chip on their shoulder for the snub, posting a 59-44 win over San Benito on Thursday.
The Raiders won the Blossom Valley East Division with a 14-0 record. Both teams have losses to St. Francis of Mountain View, with North Salinas falling 77-49 and Silver Creek stumbling 67-43.
Danae Snell is coming off a season high 26-point effort for North Salinas, who has won 13 straight games.
