Tuesday's game
Central Coast Section Open Division consolation bracket
No. 7 Palma (22-3) at. No. 6 Serra (13-12), 7 p.m.
Looking to snap a four-game Open Division losing streak, the Chieftains now have the task of facing the reigning State Division III champions in the consolation bracket
Granted, Serra isn't the same team that went 26-5 last year, beating Long Beach Poly in the CIF title game.
But Serra did close the West Catholic Athletic League season by winning four of its final five games before falling to league rival Mitty in the Open Division playoffs.
The Chieftains can look back to a sloppy third quarter for the reason they're in the consolation round after falling to St. Ignatius by five.
While Jamaree Bouyea opened a few college scouts eyes with his 29-point effort, contributions were minimal offensively from the rest of the team.
That has to change tonight. Palma has to create space to enable 3-point artist Nikhil Manimaram to get some open looks and not rush shots.
Bouyea may see double teams when penetrating, at least until someone else on the Chieftains can put the ball in the basket.
