The Breakers will begin defense of their Central Coast Section Division IV title Saturday against a King's Academy squad that posted an impressive 17-point win over Soquel Thursday.
Members of the West Bay League, the Knights have won four straight games behind 6-foot-1 Kolson Frame and 6-3 junior Eric Peterson.
The pair are averaging a combined 23.1 points a game for Kings Academy, who has won 16 games this season.
The defending four-time Mission Trail Athletic League champion Breakers are the No. 2 seed for a reason. They have rattled off eight straight wins and are 20-4 overall.
A common opponent is North County, who Pacific Grove beat 54-44 while the Knights fell 56-49. Both games were played back in December.
Brad Sendell, the likely MTAL Player of the Year for the third straight year, is averaging a career high 19 points a game while Zack Miller has been pulling down double-doubles.
A tenacious defense, anchored by Sendell's MTAL leading 65 steals, has seen Pacific Grove hold 13 opponents to 35 points or less this season.
