Girls state wrestling

The light won't be too bright. The stage won't be too big. The atmosphere won't be overwhelming for Jenna Garcia.
The three-time state meet qualifier and Central Coast Section champion will headline a contingent of county girls taking part Friday in the State Wrestling Championships in Visalia.
Garcia, a three-time CCS champion and fourth place finisher last season for Notre Dame at the state wrestling finals at 126 pounds, jumped two weight classes this winter to 137.
Four Alisal wrestlers are headed to the Central Valley, including Melissa Rios, who missed reaching the state meet last year by one place at 111 pounds.
Rios moved up a weight class to 116 this year, where the senior finished second at the section finals to extend her season.
Joining here will be teammates Stefanie Ruelas, who qualified after placing second at 121 pounds at the CCS finals, sophomore Marisol Licea (170) and junior Rosie Orozco (HVT).
North Salinas will be sending two wrestlers to the state meet, including Carolina Johnson, who after finishing fourth last year at the section finals, climbed to third at 111 pounds.
Teammate Rachel Briano also finished third at 143 pounds to advance to the prestigious event, the first time North Salinas has sent two wrestlers to the state championships.
Monterey will be represented at the state meet by Koren English, as the senior finished third at 160 pounds to qualify.
