Seaside-Monterey girls hoops

Since opening the Pacific Division season with a loss, the Spartans have looked more like the team projected for supremacy in the league with three straight wins.
Defense has been the cornerstone to Seaside's run, limiting opponents to 29 points a game during its three-game winning streak, holding co-leader North County to a league low 25 points.
With opponents putting an emphasis on stopping high scoring sophomore guard Jordan Olivares, the Spartans have turned to Alonis Ingram and Jocelyn Hernandez for production.
Hernandez and Marianne Tuazon have both been beasts on defense, combining for 32 rebounds in a win over Pajaro on Tuesday.
Don't be mislead by the Toreadores 1-3 start. This is the most improved team in the league, having dropped two games by five points or less.
Daja Scott-Mitchell has been a double-double machine for Monterey while Chanel Vernon has been a nice compliment on the offensive end.
