The Monterey Bay League voted Friday to allow Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League perennial power Aptos into the league for football in 2017.
The Mariners, who have dominated the SCCAL for five years, will be put in the Gabilan Division that will include Palma, San Benito, Salinas, Seaside, North Salinas, Monte Vista and Alvarez.
Earlier this month the SCCAL voted to disband its league for football only.
The remaining five teams in the SCCAL were admitted into the Mission Trail Athletic League earlier this week, creating two divisions in the MTAL.
With an even amount of teams in the Gabilan Division, there should be no bye week once league play starts.
