The Salinas junior soccer and track and field standout has verbally committed to play soccer in 2018 at Cal Poly-San Luis Obipso.
Last winter as a sophomore, Oleson produced 10 goals and had five assists for the Gabilan Division champion Cowboys, earning all-league honors. She is also a forward on a high-level club team in San Jose.
Oleson, who broke the Salinas school record in the 400 meters three times last spring, and placed in the Central Coast Section track and field championships, was weighing offers from numerous schools for both sports.
In fact, Cal Poly has expressed interest in her doing both. Because soccer is played in the fall in college, it’s conceivable that Oleson could compete in both.
