The first two tournaments of the winter will unfold today with the annual Eagles Classic at Alvarez and the Alisal Jose Solis-Vantory Miles Memorial tournament.
Among the eight teams taking part in the Alisal tournament include Gonzales, Soledad, Christopher, Seaside, Monte Vista, Sequoia, Watsonville and the host Trojans.
Alisal is coming off an undefeated Pacific Division season behind returning all-league forward Rene Hurtado, while Monte Vista was the runner-ups in the Gabilan Division.
The Eagles Classic will showcase North County, North Salinas, York and Alvarez, along with Tokay of Lodi, Gilroy, Robert Kennedy and Pajaro Valley.
Tokay showcases 7-foot senior center Bryson Ryan.
The Condors feature three-year starting post Jeremy Heitzman, who averaged 13 points and 13 plus rebounds a game last year while Alvarez returns Blake Kunkel.
