All County Volleyball Team

The Herald's All-County Volleyball team
Maria Santos, Santa Catalina: No one put the ball down harder than the left-handed hitting Santos, as the sophomore led the Central Coast Section Division V champions in kills for the second straight year with over 341.
McKinley Fox, Santa Catalina: The Herald's Player of the Year, the 6-foot-1 setter compiled 841 assists while leading the team in blocks and aces. Just a junior, Fox orchestrated the Cougars attack with precise sets, making decisions on the fly.  Fox also had 173 kills.
Olivia Satow, Santa Catalina: A three year starting libero, the junior has compiled over 1,200 digs in three years, solidifying the Cougars defense. Satow's awareness and fearlessness enabled her to react to balls that appeared headed to the floor.
Grace Shepherd, King City: The 5-foot-11 sophomore came of age this season, compiling 335 kills for the Mustangs, averaging 4.1 kills a set. Shepherd improved her defense to remain on the court, recording 150 digs while tallying 54 service aces.
Taylor Rose, Salinas: Evolving into one of the premier hitters in the county, the junior finished with a team high 354 kills for Salinas, averaging nearly five kills a set. Rose also tallied 248 digs while comprising 34 service aces for the Cowboys.
Camryn Sutton, Salinas: The glue behind the Cowboys attack, the senior setter finished with 666 assists in 33 matches. Engineering an offense that surged in the second half, Sutton also had 170 digs and 45 service aces for Salinas, never coming off the floor.
Megan Gonzalez, Carmel: Asked to play a dual role as a setter and hitter, the senior responded by leading the team in kills (241) and assists (340). Gonzalez also had 150 digs and 64 aces.
Mikeila Banda, Notre Dame: Asked to move from a defensive specialist to an outside hitter, Banda responded with 138  kills for Notre Dame. Banda remained a catalyst on defense with a team high 248 digs. She also had 23 service aces.
Julia Scattini, Notre Dame: Three years. Three different positions. Prior to tearing her ACL, the senior was among the county leaders in kills, finishing with 170, despite missing the final month. A libero by nature, Scattini recorded 190 digs while producing 44 service aces. Notre Dame lost four of its final five league matches without their captain.
Nichole Gomez, Alisal: The Pacific Division's Player of the Year, Gomez led the Trojans in kills en route to an undefeated league season. The senior averaged 3.5 kills, 1.3 blocks and 4.5 digs a set.
Paul Elliott, Santa Catalina coach: Was there any doubt? Not only did Elliott guide the Cougars to  MTAL and CCS titles, but the program went 25-0 against teams in the CCS. Santa Catalina set a county record by opening the season with 27 straight wins, reaching the State Nor Cal DV semifinals. Elliott's achievements came with just two seniors on the roster.
