State Northern California Division V playoffs
Wednesday's match
No. 14 Ripon Christian (21-11) at No. 3 Santa Catalina (25-0), 7 p.m.
Runner-ups in the SAC Joaquin Section Division V finals, the Knights were swept in their section title match by Bradshaw Christian.
Owners of the longest winning streak in the tournament, the undefeated Cougars have won 70 of a possible 76 sets this year, sweeping Notre Dame in the Central Coast Section DV finals.
In fact, Santa Catalina has swept its last eight opponents behind the efforts of 6-foot setter McKinley Fox, who is quarterbacking this fine tuned machine to an historic season.
Sophomore Maria Santos is coming off a 23-kill effort in the CCS title match for the Cougars while Saige Madden and Alicia Rector have had their moments at the net.
Much like Santa Catalina, the Knights are a young team with four sophomores and a freshmen on the roster.
Champions of the Southern League, Ripon Christian was 13-1 in league, but just 8-10 outside league play.
No one has served better all season than the Cougars Olivia Satow, who also shores up the defense as a libero. Faith Tell has quietly made her presence felt as a middle blocker.
