MPC-Reedley football

Saturday's game
MPC (8-1) at Reedley (1-8), 6 p.m.
It would appear -- based on records -- that the Lobos have a clear path to their first conference title in four years, not to mention an automatic bowl bid.
 Don't overlook Reedley at home.
The 1-8 record is somewhat misleading when you see that three of Reedley's home losses have been by seven points or less. It's only win came at home.
Kody Steele has put together an outstanding season for MPC, having thrown for nearly 2,000 yards and 22 touchdowns in seven games, with just five picks in 214 attempts.
Monterey graduate Michael Armstead is 85 yards shy of 1,000 receiving yards for the Lobos, having caught a team high 47 passes.
Teammate Michael Williams has caught 10 touchdown passes while Deryan Sanders has 43 catches for the Lobos, who haven't won eight games in eight years.
MPC is also 100 yards away from rushing for 1,000 yards as a team, with Akili Jones having rushed for a team high three touchdowns.
What's different this fall for MPC is its defense, anchored by linebacker Andrew Jakubowsky, who is going to lead the team in tackles for the second straight year.
Alvarez graduate Anthony McKay has compiled nine sacks for the Lobos while Salinas grad Elijah Kirkland has a team high three picks.
Reedley's defense has forced 18 turnovers this year while the Lobos have registered 17.
