Menlo-Seaside football

Central Coast Section Division V Semifinals
Friday's game
No. 3 Menlo (10-1) at No. 2 Seaside (10-1), 7 p.m.
Not only do both teams have identical records, but Pacific Division champion Seaside and Menlo have each won six straight games.
The Knights have outscored the opposition 415-154 this fall en route to finishing as co-champions of the Peninsula Ocean Division with Half Moon Bay.
These two teams are no strangers to each other, having played in the 2012 semifinals, with Menlo prevailing 41-27 at Seaside.
Quarterback Hayden Pegley has thrown for over 1,800 yards and 22 touchdowns for Menlo, tossing three touchdown passes in last week's playoff win over Kings Academy.
The Knights might be the most balanced team in the Division V postseason as running back Charlie Ferguson has rushed for 1,503 yards.
Seaside needed a little fourth quarter magic last week to knock off Stevenson. Yet, it was its defense that rescued them as sophomore Gabriel Tulau and Daniel Sayre had pick six's.
For Sayre, it was his fifth interception returned for a touchdown this season. Two more sacks from DeMarcus Hawkins increased his season total to 17.
You can make the argument that Seaside has been battled tested, as three of its last five wins have been by five points or less -- two of them being fourth quarter comebacks.
Getting tailback Keishawn Robinson going early is critical for the Spartans. Moving the chains will keep the clock moving, meaning Menlo's explosive offense can't get on the field.
Seaside's only setback all season was a two-point loss at home. Menlo is undefeated on the road this fall.
