Lizzy Tardieu

The former Herald Female Athlete of the Year is closing in on her single-season career high for digs for the University of San Diego volleyball team, having recorded 135 digs in 24 matches.

Tardieu, who has played in every match this year as a defensive specialist for the nations No. 7 ranked team, recorded 144 digs in 30 matches last season for the Toreros.

The junior has shown her versatility on the court with 15 assists and eight service aces for San Diego, who is 21-3 overall this year and 12-1 in conference.

A four-time member of The Herald’s All-County volleyball team at Santa Catalina, Tardieu earned all-league honors in cross country and track as well, earning a spot in the state meet in cross country in 2013.
