Stevenson-Soledad football

Friday's game
Stevenson (4-2) at Soledad (4-3), 7:30 p.m.
The Pirates believe they should be 5-1. Bottom line is they're 4-2. Meaning their final three games are playoff type games.
Because three losses in the Mission Trail Athletic League will be one to many.
Soledad is going to need some help if it has any hopes of defending its share of the MTAL title after falling to Carmel last week. Running the table will seal a postseason berth.
Quarterback Casey Mornhinweg and his school record 21 touchdown passes this season are expected back in the lineup this week for Stevenson.
In his absence, Stevenson racked up a season high 52 points last week.
Will Lansbury is having a record breaking season for the Pirates with 55 catches for 998 yards and 15 touchdowns in just six games.
Having seen its nine-game MTAL winning streak snapped last week, Soledad pounds the ball behind tailback Emmanuel Ortega, and chews up the clock.
The philosophy has worked for the most part, enabling an aggressive defense to chase quarterbacks and stuff the run inside.
Andrew Hernandez has 98 tackles and 8 1/2 sacks for Soledad while Daniel Contawe has 82 tackles and a team high nine sacks. Aaron Rodriguez has three interceptions, including a pick six.
