North Salinas-Palma football

Friday's game
North Salinas (3-4) vs. Palma (5-2) at Rabobank, 7:30 p.m.
They've shared the same facilities for the last three decades. But the similarities end there as Palma hasn't fallen to the Vikings since the mid 1980's.
The Chieftains have been dominating during their five game winning streak, having outscored teams 182-52.
North Salinas kept its postseason hopes alive last week, using a fourth quarter touchdown pass from Tim Burkhardt in the final seconds to beat Christopher.
Burkhardt, who turned an ankle in the first half last week, came back in the second half to toss three touchdown passes, giving him 13 on the season.
Emilio Martinez has been on a different planet this fall for Palma, having rushed for 1,251 yards and 21 touchdowns, giving him a school record 54 rushing touchdowns.
Martinez, who has an offer on the table from the University of San Diego, is on pace to break the single-season school rushing record in just 10 games.
Is it a coincidence that Palma is 5-0 when quarterback Zach Flores tosses a touchdown pass?
Or the fact that the defense, anchored by Drew Dalman and Stan Smith, has allowed just seven points in the first quarter during the winning streak?
