Soledad-Marina football

Friday's game
Soledad (3-2) vs. Marina (1-4) a MPC, 7:30 p.m.
After facing the best offense in the Mission Trail Athletic League last week, now the Mariners find themselves lined up against the best defense.
The 78 points Marina gave up last week to Carmel was a school record. Then again, the 38 points it put up on the scoreboard was the fourth most in school history.
The Aztecs defense, anchored by Daniel Contawe, Andrew Hernandez and Augustine Meza, has yet to allow a point in the third quarter this year.
The trio have 181 tackles between them, with Contawe and Hernandez combining for 15 1/2 sacks. Don't discount Luis Nevarrete, who has six sacks.
Five of quarterback Andy Hernandez's six touchdowns have come in the last two games for Soledad, with Robbie Santa Ana being on the receiving end of two of them.
Emmanuel Ortega has rushed for over 100 yards twice this fall and has scored a touchdown in each of the Aztecs last four games.
The Mariners may have no choice but to modify their offense and grind the ball, losing their third quarterback of the season to an injury, ironically late in the game on an attempted onside kick.
