Monte Vista-Alvarez football

Friday's game
Monte Vista (5-1) at Alvarez (2-4), 7:30 p.m.
What a wicked stretch for the Eagles, who will be facing their fourth straight team that is either 5-1, undefeated, or unbeaten in league play over the last two years.
During its current four-game skid, Alvarez has given up 182 points, having been outscored 53-14 in the third quarter. Monte Vista has outscored teams 60-27 in the third quarter.
Somewhat of a concern for the Mustangs has been their defense, which has given up 77 points in two Gabilan Division games.
Offensively, Devon Daich has thrown for over 700 yards and 11 touchdowns for Monte Vista, with just two picks in 76 attempts.
Turnovers continue to be a thrown in the Eagles side as they've committed 13 this fall, not including two bocked punts -- forcing that defense to spend more time on the field
Matthew Martinez has thrown for 320 yards and rushed for nearly 300 for the Eagles, accounting for eight touchdowns.
This will be the first true aerial attack Alvarez's defense has faced. It could open the door for a big night for Alan Llamas, who has eight sacks this fall.
The Eagles has given up 10 rushing touchdowns. Monte Vista's Darnell Deas and Cody Paresa have combined for 13 rushing touchdowns.
