Seaside-Watsonville football

Friday's games
Seaside (7-1) at Watsonville (4-4), 7:30 p.m.
The Wildcatz have put themselves in a position no one outside that lockeroom expected, and that is to contend for a Pacific Division title.
A Watsonville win would create a tie at the top with Seaside and potentially Gilroy.
Last year the Wildcatz beat Seaside 31-28.
Watsonville runs a tight offensive formation in which three players have combined for over 1,500 rushing yards. It's not going to beat you throwing the ball.
Seaside struggled in defusing the run earlier this year in a 34-32 win over Gilroy, allowing over 270 yards, 197 from one player.
Of course, the Wildcatz have to neutralize tailback Keishawn Robinson, who is 22 yards shy of his second straight 1,000 plus yard rushing season for Seaside.
The Spartans also had a week to heel up some nagging injuries in the trenches. DeMarcus Hawkins has 14 sacks while safety Malik Jeter has offers on the table from Hawaii and Sacramento State.
Jeter is also quarterbacking the offense, having thrown for nearly 800 yards, with Robinson and Daniel Sayre sharing the team lead in receptions (16) and touchdown catches (2).
