North County-Monterey football

Saturday's game
Monterey (3-3) vs. North County (1-6) at Alvarez, 1:30 p.m.
The Toreadores have taken advantage of a stretch of games against teams that are struggling, turning an 0-3 start into a 3-3 mark.
More importantly, Monterey is undefeated in the Pacific Division, one of only three teams that hold that distinction.
North County snapped an eight-game losing streak last week with a season high 36 point uprising. Prior to that, it had scored just 59 points on the season.
Evans Charles has continued to evolve into an efficient quarterback for Monterey, with Marcus Dorn Jr. being his favorite target with six touchdown catches.
Yet, what has ignited Monterey's offense in the last two games has been tailback Bishop Ward, who has piled up over 300 yards and six touchdowns in two lopsided wins.
Joseph Barrios has been a bright spot for North County on both the offensive and defensive side with three interceptions and nearly 600 yards in total offense.
Monterey is 0-2 on the road this year while North County is 0-3 at its temporary home at Alvarez, as its home field on campus is being renovated.
