King City-Carmel football

Saturday's game
King City (3-4) at Carmel (7-0), 2 p.m.
Hosting their first game on campus this year means a return to Saturday matinee football for Carmel. Yet, playing on Friday night turned out not to be a bad deal.
The Padres are chasing their third undefeated regular season in eight years. The last two resulted in trips to the Central Coast Section finals.
We got a first hand look at the Padres defense for a full game last week, as they held Soledad to just seven points in avenging a loss to them last year.
Covossay Windham has gone over 100 yards rushing in all seven games for Carmel, chalking up 210 in last week's win to go over 1,000 yards for the third straight year.
The senior running back is closing in on the school's all time rushing record, having produced 50 rushing touchdowns in three years.
Quarterback Daniel Higman is also on pace to rush for 1,000 yards. He's thrown for over 1,000, with just two interceptions in 116 attempts.
After rattling off six straight road wins, the Mustangs have dropped their last two games on the road. Falling to Pacific Grove last week has jeopardized their postseason hopes.
Tommy Stephens has thrown for over 1,000 yards this fall for King City, while leading the team on defense in interceptions with four.
The Mustangs defense has two touchdowns this year, including a pick six from Stephens. But it also surrendered a season high 45 points last week.
