Gabilan Division CC Center Meet

There is a strong possibility that today's site of the Gabilan Division cross country Center Meet at Natividad Creek Park in Salinas will be the home of the league championships in three weeks.
With Toro Park remaining closed while fireman from across the state use it as a home base, and the course in need of series cleaning, time is running out.
Natividad Creek Park would appear to be an adequate site to host a championships caliber meet, as the course is big enough to field a large contingent of runners.
Plus everyone will have had at least one meet on the 3.01 mile loop to get familiar with its quirky turns and multiple runs through a tunnel.
The meet will also serve as a better indicator of who to watch for at the league finals, as teams get closer to their peak conditions.
In the first league Center Meet, Salinas and San Benito tied in the boys division, with the Cowboys prevailing based on their sixth runner.
Put Alisal in the mix after its impressive Salinas City Meet win, without its No. 1 runner, who was injured in the last Center Meet.
Brandon Gutierrez of North Salinas won the last Center Meet. He will be pushed by Salinas' Alfredo Mejia and Christoph Klemsz.
San Benito appears to be the class of the girls division again after placing four runners in the top seven at the last Center Meet, including Eli Kliewer.
Kayla Clayton ran off with individual honors for Salinas in the first Center Meet at Pinto Lake. She is coming off a season best clocking last week at Natividad Creek Park.
