Alisal football

So it took eight weeks for Alisal to find itself.
In the mind of first year coach Cesar Chaidez, the growing pains that came in changing the culture of  the program will benefit the Trojans in the long run.
Short term, we witnessed the potential after Alisal outscored its final two opponents 57-6.
The Trojans have a quarterback for the future in Andrew Marquez, who fired four touchdown passes in the first half in Friday's win over Pajaro.
Yet, what gets your attention about Alisal was its defense, which allowed just six points in its final 10 quarters, shutting out Pajaro.
True, Alisal dropped eight games this year. Yet, it had the lead in four of those games. It could have been a different season.
Still, if you're Chaidez, you have to feel a sense of satisfaction. The foundation for the future has been laid.
Instead of hope next fall, there will be expectations at Alisal. Optimism should run high. It cleared a barrier in these final two weeks.
