Stevenson-Lynbrook football

Friday's game
Stevenson (1-0) at Lynbrook, San Jose (3-0), 7 p.m.
The Vikings have already exceeded their win total from the last two years combined, outscoring three opponents 113-6.
Of course, the combined record of the three teams Lynbrook has beaten is 1-5. That being said, this is a program playing with a lot of confidence on both sides of the ball.
Stevenson was sharp in its opener two weeks ago as Casey Mornhinweg threw for a school record six touchdown passes, three to Will Lansbury, who caught a career high 16 passes.
Last fall the pair hooked up 43 times for nearly 800 yards. At this rate, that mark will be extinguished by Week 5.
For all the talk about the importance of being balanced, the Pirates averaged 6.3 yards when they did run the ball, which was just 16 times as opposed to airing it out 47 times.
Lost in the offensive eruption was the effort of Alexander Meredith and Haydon Gordon on defense as the pair each had nine tackles.
A bye gave the Pirates time to correct some mistakes and heel up. Because it starts the season a week later than the CCS date, that was their first contact against an opponent.
