Not even old enough to drive yet, Sam Stoutenborough found himself being asked to make perhaps the biggest decision in his life.
Eight Division I baseball programs wanted an answer, a commitment from the Palma junior hurler.
"It was too soon,’’ Stoutenborough said. "So I told them no.’’
Accept one.
A conversation with Cal manager and Palma graduate David Esquer changed his thinking.
"I just felt a huge connection with coach Esquer,’’ said Stoutenborough, who committed Tuesday to be a Bear. "I believe he can make a huge impact in my life.’’
