Palma football

Humbled last week. Heartbroken this week.
The end result is the Chieftains are 0-2 after giving up a touchdown in the final minutes of an 8-7 loss to state ranked St. Francis of Mountain View.
This isn't unfamiliar territory for Palma.
Just two years ago the Chieftains started the year 0-3, then rebounded and rattled off seven straight wins.
Does this change things for Palma?
 Not at all.
The long goal term is still out there.
The Chieftains have losses to a Division III state finalist and a Division III Nor Cal finalist.
 These aren't powderpuff opponents.
Of course, it doesn't get any easier this week as Palma will host another state finalist in Sacred Heart Prep of Atherton.
Holding St. Francis to a late touchdown is a building block for a defense that gave up 52 points in its opener. But is the offense relying too much on tailback Emilio Martinez?
The senior went over 100 yards in the first half, but was bottled up and held to 35 yards in the second half on 10 carries.
After going 11-0 when Martinez rushed for over 100 yards, the Chieftains have dropped their last three when he tops the century mark.
At some point Palma will need to prove to opponents that if you stack nine in a box, it can attack you through the air.
