Orestimba-Pacific Grove football

Friday's game
Orestimba (0-1) at Pacific Grove (1-0), 7:30 p.m.
Dating back to last season's playoff loss, the last two games have been rough for the Warriors, who have been outscored 98-6 -- falling 36-0 to Mendota last week.
Prior to that, Orestimba, which is Newman, had rattled off 11 straight wins, going undefeated in the regular season in the SAC Joaquin Section in 2015.
For the second time in three games dating back to last year, Pacific Grove relied on an onside kick and late game dramatics to pull out a win as time expired.
Noah Cryns was impressive in his debut at quarterback for the Breakers, throwing for 231 yards and  rushing for 139, having a hand in four touchdowns.
Do not take your eye off MTAL 100 meter champion Nick Coppla, who combined for 226 rushing and receiving yards, scoring three touchdowns on just 12 touches for Pacific Grove.
The Breakers can't afford to spot teams 17 point leads in the fourth quarter. Engaging in shootouts is not part of the game plan.
Yet, the defense came up with big stops in critical moments. Cryns was effective on both sides with an interception while three year starter Foster Smith bounced on a fumble, compiling seven tackles.
